Shiraume Incense Holder

This small metal holder is used to burn Japanese incense, which is generally shorter than Indian incense and does not have a bamboo core. It is shaped like a delicate plum blossom, shiraume in Japanese. The flowering of this tree heralds spring and is therefore a symbol of regeneration and rebirth in the land of the rising sun.
